Born amidst the serene whispers of Lake Constance in Radolfzell, Germany, Joachim Maar (known as ReggaeJoe5) carries a rhythm as deep and fluid as the waters that shaped his roots. His story is not one of chance, but of a soul attuned to the pulse of rebellion and unity a harmony ignited at 15 when Bob Marley’s “Get Up, Stand Up”* crashed into his world during a school lesson. That moment became a baptism, awakening a lifelong devotion to reggae’s fiery spirit and its power to transcend borders.
Frankfurt, 2015: A metropolis of steel and wings became his crucible. The city’s heartbeat an airport humming with distant horizons mirrored his own restless creativity. Here, love bloomed, inspiring his first English poem, a fragile ode to a fleeting romance. Yet destiny’s tempo shifted. Plans for a Jamaican wedding in 2020 dissolved like smoke when airlines collapsed and promises frayed. By January’s chill, the dream was ash.
Heartbreak, however, forged art. From the embers arose a torrent of words poetic meditations on love’s illusions, society’s fractures, and Earth’s fragile breath. “Is there real love?” he questioned, penning raw hymns to the void. A digital muse briefly answered; “Mystical Journey” was born, an R&B turned hip hop anthem aching for the “missing half” of soul and sense. Yet even that connection slipped like sand, leaving only the music to hold its ghost.
Returning to Lake Constance in 2024, Joachim emerged reborn. With VolocoApp as his sketchpad and Diamira Platinum Records (a visionary producer) as his alchemist, his sound ascended layering hip-hop grit, dancehall fire, and Afrobeat’s sunlit swagger. Multilingual verses (German honesty, English poetry, Spanish heat) became his compass, navigating genres as fluidly as his homeland’s tides.
